9 Steps for Cleaner Seas and Beaches

4 Mar 2019

With a new “pocket” leaflet, HELMEPA presents in brief the problem of pollution from single use plastics, providing useful information on the threat mainly to marine life, as well as to ourselves.

With the aim to also highlight solutions to the problem of single use plastics on a personal level, the leaflet proposes 9 simple steps that we can all follow to protect the marine environment and ourselves.

HELMEPA designed the leaflet in the framework of the “Clean Islands” program with the support of Athanasios C. Laskaridis Public Benefit Foundation. The aim of this initiative was pollution prevention and protection of the marine environment by informing and raising awareness among fishermen, local stakeholders and the wider public and promoting volunteering and cooperation.

The leaflet is disseminated to students visiting HELMEPA’s permanent Exhibitions in Paleo Faliro and Piraeus, while it will be distributed to visitors of the association’s mobile environmental Exhibition, which will tour 6 cities in the country in 2019.
