Expansion of the MEPA Spirit
According to the Founding Declaration of 1982, the Association should lead in an international effort to combine regulation and voluntary will to eliminate ship-generated marine pollution and improve safety at sea. Implementing this Article, the Association promoted and supported the establishment of the following sister Organizations, which operate under similar to HELMEPA’s Declarations:
- AUSMEPA in Australia >
- BRITMEPA in the UK
- CYMEPA in Cyprus >
- NAMEPA in the USA >
- PHILMEPA in the Philippines
- TURMEPA in Turkey >
- URUMEPA in Uruguay
- UKRMEPA in Ukraine >
In June 2006
4 MEPAs signed, as founding members, the legal document which defined INTERMEPA as a voluntary, non-governmental and non-profit association in Athens, Greece.
Its headquarters are hosted at HELMEPA’s offices, offering secretarial support as well.
