Since the beginning of the year, when the decision of the Members’ Extraordinary General Assembly on the new fee policy came into effect, the following 44 member managing companies have re-registered with their entire fleets:

The 53 managing companies with a total of 836 member vessels have electronically received the new Membership Certificate and the "HELMEPA Member 2021" hologram stamp, while they have been informed and are already using the services of the Maritime Training Center available to their seafarers and office staff. In addition, new members will soon receive the welcome pack with HELMEPA vessel’s flag, placards for MARPOL Annex IV and V and other useful material.

Partners in this joint effort are our Associate Members, ie Classification Societies, P&I Clubs, Flag Registries and Banks, which despite the significant increase in their annual membership fees, continue to support the aims and work of HELMEPA. Additionally, companies of the wider shipping cluster in Greece, international organizations such as BIMCO, Green Award Foundation, IACS, Intertanko and Propeller Club of the US as well as new Member companies such as Praxis Yachts, Chugoku Marine Paints and Thalassa Foundation, which now contribute to our mission as Corporate Supporters. And of course, the 14,000 seafarers-members, who since 1982 constitute the best carriers of HELMEPA’s mission across seas and oceans.

HELMEPA and its Members have been contributing for more than three decades to the work of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP-MAP) in the Mediterranean region and beyond.

By supporting HELMEPA, our Members promote their Corporate Social Responsibility by assisting in the efforts of the international community to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) since contemporary global challenges such as the Covid-19 pandemic, climate change and marine degradation can only be tackled effectively through synergies at all levels.

We are looking forward, therefore, to welcoming even more members and to strengthen the voluntary work of HELMEPA by contributing to the sustainability of the shipping industry and the protection of the marine and coastal environment in Greece, which is our greatest legacy for future generations!
